Elon Homes and Schools for Children, Inc., was pleased to be granted one of the first North Carolina Department of Public Instruction official Charter Public School certifications in 1997. Our intent with our school, named the Kennedy Charter Public School, Inc. in memory of Fred J. Kennedy, founder of Boy's Town of Charlotte, was to educate at - risk youth in our care as well as students from the community. The school has grown from less than a dozen students in 1998 to over 340 students this past academic year. The school currently offers middle and high school grades and will, in 2009, begin offering elementary school grades. This elementary school will be named Francis Elementary School in honor of Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Francis, a long time and very generous supporter of the school and Elon Homes and Schools for Children.
Research shows that a student who graduates with a high school diploma has significantly better chances for success in life relative to employment, relationships, personal development and decision making. To this end we try to work with every student in every grade to help him or her in every way be successful at our school.
Kennedy Charter Public School, Inc. faculty, staff, students and families welcome you to our website!
Sincerely,
Dr. Frederick G. Grosse
Superintendent of School
President, Elon Homes and Schools for Children, Inc.
