Girls Basketball
Ms. Foster is a proud native of Charlotte, North Carolina. She attended East Mecklenburg High School, where she was a vital member of the Varsity Girls Basketball team and helped her team advance to the State Regional Finals during her senior year. She was awarded a basketball scholarship to attend Seward County Community College in Liberal, Kansas. She then transferred to Brevard College, located in Brevard, North Carolina, where she also received a basketball scholarship to play on their Women's team. Ms. Foster helped lead her team to an appearance at the National Conference in 2003. In addition to still attending school at Brevard, she also acted in the capacity of a Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Women's Basketball team. In 2003, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Integrated Studies of Fitness Leadership with a Concentration in Teaching and Coaching from Brevard College.
After graduating college, she was employed by Mecklenburg County Parks and Recreation and tenured for about four years. While employed by Parks and Recreation, she coached the Youth Boy's team. Because she knew the game and cared about their well-being on and off the court, she quickly gained their respect as a female coach.
For the past 7 years, she has worked at Elon School for Children as a Residential Counselor, and Wellness Coordinator. In 2010 she began her first year of teaching Physical Education here at Kennedy Charter. She was also the Assistant Basketball coach for 3 years. She then became the Head Coach of the Girl's Basketball team during the 2010-2011 school year. "I love coaching and motivating my players to be their best by showing them good work ethics. We are in the process of rebuilding our girl's basketball program. I feel very confident that in the near future we will be a team that everyone recognizes. I will do whatever it takes to see my girls succeed in the game that they enjoy playing."
In order to stay abreast of new concepts and conditioning techniques, Ms. Foster makes a point to attend various Coach's Clinics and camps. She also seeks the advice and expertise of her former coaches and mentors who molded her throughout her basketball career. "I learned a lot playing for my coaches so their advice will forever live in me."
Ms. Foster hosted her First Annual Girl's Basketball Camp in 2008, where she offered exceptional basketball skills instruction by experienced staff of high school coaches and former college players. She plans to continue hosting camps and clinics for many years to come. "I enjoy giving back to the community, because I would not be where I am today if the community did not give back to me".
