Boy's Basketball Program
Kennedy Charter Boys Basketball has emerged as a regional powerhouse. In his first season as head coach, Edward Addie transformed the Eagles into a force to reckoned with. Kennedy recently completed its second 20-win season, finishing the regular season 21-3 and winning the Southlake Classic Tournament by a combined 108 points.
In the current season, Kennedy Charter led the nation in scoring (91.4 points per game) and boasts top level talent that's being recruited by several NCAA Division I and II schools. The Eagles concluded their season with a game against the 2011-2012 National Champion, Oak Hill Academy Warriors. The 2012-2013 season looks to be even brighter for the Eagles, as a national schedule full of top-ranked teams and challenging tournaments is in the works. Kennedy Charter also develops young basketball talent with a Junior Varsity squad led by Coach Caleb Young, that finished its 2011-12 campaign undefeated at 12-0. We also have an up-and-coming middle school program led by Coach Jesse Wilkins. For more information, go to www.kcpsbasketball.com
Girls Basketball Program
The basketball program at Kennedy Charter has a history of strong teamwork, good game play and tight camaraderie. Coach Chiquita Foster, who has been a high-achieving player since her own high school career, attended college on a basketball scholarship and brings her years of coaching and playing experience to the team. Says Ms. Foster, "I love coaching and motivating my players to be their best by showing them a good work ethic. I will do whatever it takes to see my girls succeed in the game that they enjoy playing."
Ms. Foster hosted the First Annual Girl's Basketball Camp in 2008, where players learned exceptional basketball skills from an experienced staff of high school coaches and former college players. She plans to continue hosting camps and clinics to help enrich the skills of the girls who attend.
