Girls Basketball
This year will mark Coach Tom Whatton's first season as head coach for girls basketball. The dedicated coaching staff will work hard to instill their philosophy of hard work and discipline, and are looking forward to the start of a new season and new team. With the combined efforts of the girls, and the experience and knowledge of the coaching staff, the Lady Eagles will have a very successful season on and off the floor.

Boys Basketball
Our basketball program is based on a simple philosophy. We want our young men to be TEAM basketball players within a successful program which functions as a family. Along the way they achieve the higher goal of helping them to be better people overall.

basketballAt Kennedy Charter, a Basketball player is one who strives to earn the "PRIDE and COMMITMENT Award" that is given at the end of the season. He is a player who takes risks and is dedicated to both his individual improvement and the development of the team. He goes above and beyond, consistently demonstrating a high level of focus, intensity, and hustle in practices and games. The award isn't always for the leading scorer or a starter; it is for the one player on each team of the program that can be counted on every day to represent the ideals of a Kennedy Charter basketball player: teamwork, family, pride, commitment, dedication, desire, sacrifice, heart, hustle, attitude, aptitude, and discipline.

We try to help our players understand that a successful team requires a great deal of time and dedication by each member of the team family. We also try to help our players understand that basketball is not something separate from their school experience - that discipline must be exemplified both on and off the court. They must apply their dedication to school as they are "student-athletes" - students first, athletes second. Hopefully, in teaching these lessons, we give our players a taste of several skills essential to a successful life after Kennedy Charter - working together, supporting each other and placing the welfare of the group ahead of self-interest.

Our coaching staff is concerned with, and committed to, each player in our basketball program, at every level of his development within the context of team basketball. In return for each young man's commitment to the program, we have pledged to be understanding, truthful, open, and fair with him. Each parent and player must realize that a commitment often times extends beyond the regular season. It takes extra time and effort to be successful.
Finally, we recognize that basketball is a game, and that students are attracted to the sport primarily because it is fun. We will never lose sight of this fact. We believe that successful basketball and fun basketball can exist together in a program devoted to TEAM BASKETBALL.

footballFootball
Here at Kennedy Charter Public School we believe that there are many ways to spell success. Many coaches and schools only measure success by wins and losses. I believe it's measured in the lessons learned from the game of football. Football has the ability to teach these young men many powerful lessons that they may carry with them throughout their lives such as, discipline, commitment, teamwork, sportsmanship, hard work and pride. P.R.I.D.E is our team motto. It stands for Passion, Respect, Integrity, Discipline, and Excellence. I believe that we are teaching these young men here those character traits each day, and if they continue to use them they will not only win on the football field, but most importantly they will win in life.
